Actor Ryan O'Neal was arrested early yesterday morning at his Malibu, Calif., home. O'Neal, 65, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after a fight with his 42-year-old son, according to police.

Griffin O'Neal was reportedly not injured, but his 22-year-old girlfriend, Joanne Berry, received what is being classified as "minor injuries," Sgt. Ken Crocker said last night.

According to reports, deputies went to Ryan's Malibu beach house shortly after midnight following a call stating that Griffin O'Neal and Berry had allegedly been attacked by the elder O'Neal.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies also charged O'Neal with negligent discharge of a firearm, Sgt. Crocker stated. Ryan O'Neal was released from jail at 5:30 a.m. yesterday after reportedly posting $50,000 bail.
