Kate Moss has donated her famous vintage Dior frock to her friend hairdresser James Brown to raise money for charity Cancer Research UK, but it may need some repairing

The dress was worn by Moss in September when she arrived with fashion photographer Mario Testino at a party at the Victoria & Albert Museum in celebration of its new exhibition on Dior.

A tear at the shoulder appeared when someone trod on the vintage cream satin and a gaping hole emerged later across the back.

By the time Moss moved to the Dorchester to carry on partying, she had been forced to hitch the dress up and tie it around her waist. She was last seen in the battered number at about 3am.

It is one of around 30 items given to help the charity's fund-raising drive.
James Brown, a former Elle Style Awards hairdresser of the year, said: "I know first-hand the devastating effect cancer can have so I jumped at the chance to do something to help.

Half the items can be viewed online for bidding at the James Brown Collection eBay shop a week from today. The highest bids at close of play next Friday win.

The other half will be available for viewing at the Cancer Research UK shop in Marylebone High Street next Friday.

Matthew Chambers
FEAR OF A BLACK HAT
January 18 - February 23, 2008
opening Friday, January 18, 6-9pm

2nd Cannons Publications is very proud to present its inaugural exhibition: Matthew Chambers’s Fear of a Black Hat, an exhibition in response to Chambers’ recent shows in Vancouver (Blanket Gallery) and New York (Broadway 1602) which focused on the disappearance and implied death of Chambers' alter ego TRUDI (fitting since the show is being presented in the TRUDI gallery's former Chinatown space).

While TRUDI was loosely based around the ideals of the English anarchist punk band Crass and its creator Penny Rimbaud (B. 1943), Black Hat looks at the other side of the coin, retracing the steps of Rimbaud’s cultural nemesis, Malcolm McLaren (B. 1946). Fear of a Black Hat starts with the modification of 2nd Cannons founder Brian Kennon’s recent work “Long Live Rock n Roll,” altering it into “Let It Rock”, the name of Malcolm McLaren's first shop with Vivienne Westwood, where they outfitted dandies and Teddies in outdated/updated formal wear. From there the exhibition builds a historic web that includes Groucho Marx and Julie Christie.

Bainbridge Island

The original Fort Ward was built before World War I. Some of the gun emplacements and bunkers remain, including the Francis Nash Bunker which has had numerous mysterious suicides inside of its infamous cage room. Other standing structures from the base include two reservoirs, one atop the parade grounds and another much less known one just off of Toe Jam Hill.
